January is in full swing.. Ive already had enough of it in more ways than one.. My diet is going.. not great.. but its still moving in the right direction.. Daddy is the same. Mom is good. Mike is doing well but again our life is day to day. Because we dont know when or how it will end.. but then does anyone ?? NO.. so even with our circumstance, we are in no worse shape than anyone else. He needs me as much as I need him. Work is going very well. Crafting will be coming up.. I have many gifts to make over the next few months.. Aprons will be a biggie.. found a very cute, girly one that will be fun to make. A few Valentine gifts and several other celebrations coming up.. Im hoping to go out west to visit a friend with a few other friends. I may be heading south for a wedding of a relative .. Mike maybe taking a cross country motorcycle trip with some good friends and we have a several other things planned this year. Busy and together time.. very important for 2012.. Im happy.. alot to be happy about even in all the sadness and again those missing in our lives. They will be so very very sorry for the times missed with Grandparents and Parents.. I hurt for them.. because they dont know how bad they will hurt later. This is time that will never ever come again. And a Dog is in our future.. we will start shopping for another Bernese very soon.. THAT is exciting !!!!!

2012 will be a Challenging Year.. A Year of struggle and A Year of Hope. Work is Changing so fast.. Its exciting, refreshing and frightening ...all at the same time.. Such is life. Mike is thru with all conventional medicine.. We are "on our own" basically for the remainder of his Cancer Journey. My Dad is deteriorating hour by hour, the hardening of his arteries make it very difficult for him to function daily. But, he still gets up , gets dressed and starts his day hopeful. Thats a blessing in itself. He makes it hard for me to lay down and give up. He cant hear, he cant speak most of the time, he has NO clue the conversations or the issues that swirl around him each day.. He prepares for his day dressed as handsome as a man can and then cruises thru the day oblivious to most of it. What makes him get up each morning and prepare himself for NOTHING. I am humbled every time I think of this... His will to live must out weigh the anguish he may or maybe doesnt feel.. I love him.

And so the New Year began this weekend... Nothing spectacular.. just a new beginning.. Im big on Ritual and Tradition so I still made all the Normal Resolutions.. This year my word is Focus..

I also hope to be down 50 pounds this year. Its a big year as far as Milestones.. What percentage of the World still is married after 40 years. Its an Amazing feat and its been an Amazing Journey. We have changed and weathered the storm many times. At different times you make it work for different reasons. But always you love each other .
Also my High School 40th Reunion. How lucky I am to have many friends in my life that graduated with me ... We havent all been together thru the entire 40 years.. but in and out of each others lives in different ways.. thru even our own kids. You have to love a small town for that.. I live in a big city, but a nice suburb of it. 40 years ago we had a very strong sense of family, school and Tradition.. I came from a more than medium size graduating class.. over 350.. but we still knew everyone.
My blogging will get better this year .. another resolution. It will be a Monumental Year. Im sure of that. There will be many Events this year concerning different things going on in our life... Something Im not really looking forward to, but its inevitable. So, for all the turmoil and blessings in 2011.. 2012 is looming ..... but I know I will survive as long as I FOCUS.

More wait..Future Chemo is not an option anymore...Meeting with a team that consists of our Thoracic Surgeon who took our last tumors out and a New type of Radiology called IMRT or something like that..These two zillion dollar docs are together only once a month for this type of consultation so our appt is in January....so no new news but at least they do want to talk to him in person

ITS Christmas time.. and I do not want to hear the words CANCER till after our appt .. it is scheduled now for January 5th.. .. by the way.. from all the scans the past 2 weeks.. the Liver, Abdomen, and Heart are all normal and clear. All other tissue and lymph nodes in the Lung area are clear.. Bladder, pelvic and bowel areas are clear and normal. Just 2...a 2.3 Centimeter Tumor located in the upper lobe of the right lung and a 2.0 Centimeter Tumor located in the center of the upper lobe of the left lung. If surgery is decided by the Specialists.. there will be 2 different Lung Surgeries.. since he prefers to not operate on both lungs at the same time for double risk of infection or pneumonia.. so 2 different lung surgeries.. in late January.. If IMRT I think thats it .. again. .thanks Jessica.. havent researched that yet.. is preferred by the 2 specialists after seeing him.. then we will have to be told how that will happen, how often, durations,,, etc... so .. thats ALL.. till after January 6th.. over a month.. no Cancer talk please.. Hugs will be accepted and appreciated.. but THATS it.. .

I have an 30 year old Christmas Tree which I love dearly.. the issue is that it is a Branch at a time.. plus fluff each branch .. sort by color.. NOT a prelit tree... but I do love it.. its a gorgeous Blue Spruce that I trampled over 3 states in the early 80s to find... NEVER HAD A STAND.. we have tried them all.. this tree is very full and very heavy... after giving up on it for several years.. the memory of the Tree Stand Misery..... was forgotten.. UNTIL the tree was assembled last night.. every branch.. fluffed and put in its perfect slot.. and slowly........ tipped completely over.. Oh yea.. never had a stand for it.. every year we configured something.. THIS year.. Mike went to bed before the tree was assembled.. I think his memory is better than MINE... so this morning.. I thought... ok... Bucket.. sand.... bucket rocks left over from my Daughters wedding 5 years ago.. yes.. we never throw anything away.. (MICHAEL).. then I could fill the bucket.. put 2 hand held weights along side of the stem.. the most use they have ever had... and then wrap it all up with duct tape.. that didnt work. I know.. one of you could have told me that........ I have pink rocks buried in shag carpet.. and yes.. we will find one or two for the next few years..... Then it hit me.... the Metal Stand for my Yard Globe that broke last year.(yes we kept it too ) . so I stuck it thru the 2 holes.. and duct taped it all up... added the bottom branches back.. and WAH LAH !!!!!!! Im so excited.... it will never come out of there.. so I think this is the FINAL last year for the Tree... we will throw it in the dumpster in tact one cold dreary day in January 2012.. but enjoy it like never before THIS CHRISTMAS !!!!!!!!!

OH Thanksgiving ! I know you are tucked in between an Ever Growing Halloween Phenom and Wonderful Christmas, but please know you are still one of the most Treasured and Loved Holidays of all.
This year, people who know me wont have any difficulty recognizing as I do all the many Things I have to be Thankful for this year...

We still live in a Country that allows me to have this Blog, Talk to my Friends on Facebook and Get in my Car and Go to Work each day without fear.
I have been married to the same man for 39 and 1/2 years.. WE are together this Holiday Weekend
My Son is with us This Thanksgiving. Alive and well.
My Parents are with us for Thanksgiving. Alive and well.
My Sister, her husband of 29 years and their 3 children are all Alive and Well
We have a Roof over our Heads
I have a Job that I love and is Changing and Evolving to be even Better.
Mike has a Business that allows him to take the time he needs to get well
We have Insurance to take Care of his Illness
Our Bills are paid
We have so many Wonderful Friends who amaze us EVERY Day with their Love and Generosity.
Christmas is right around the Corner and I have Parties and Events coming up and just the planning is bringing me such joy.

There is alot to be Thankful for.. There are still people missing from our lives.. There is overwhelming illness and sadness touching us and so many of those we love, but in this time of remembering our Blessings.. I would say that this is a Really Special Thanksgiving.. Not one to hide from... but one to Celebrate and Remember....

Well.. we are somewhere between Option 2 and 3...

There are 2 New Tumors in his Lungs larger than the 3 removed a year ago.. .. 6 months ago,,, these 2 Tumors were not there..They grew quickly .... Plan of action is P.E.T. Scan this Monday.. Meeting with the Thoracic Surgeon and Oncologist next Friday. Oncologist and Radiologist feel they are Inoperable.. but as they stated they are not a Thoracic Surgeon and he may think differently.. If Operable, he will go thru the Lung Surgery again.. and Chemo.. if that is the decision it will happen after the Holidays based on our decision today..Surgery and then 6 months of Chemo.

If Inoperable.. since limited on Chemo Drugs for Colon Cancer and he has used them all on the 2 previous Chemo Sessions and they did NOT do anything to stop the Cancer then Mike has to make a decision whether or not to still go thru Chemo or just live with the Tumors.. which the Oncologist believes with NOTHING from this point on that it will be 1 year before Mike feels the full affect of the Cancer.

So.. Surgery and Chemo if Operable and if not.. then either Chemo only.. or nothing.. if inoperable 1 year.. Chemo may extend or shorten depending on its help or damage to the good cells and not the tumors.... The only Tumors or Masses since the beginning of this have been removed by Surgery.. Chemo has not had any affect on his cancer cure or spread.

Not the answers we were hoping for..

Today is one of those Days....One of those Monumental Days that you sit back 5... 10 years from now.. and say.. Remember November 22nd 2011.. Thats the Day we heard the Cancer was back... .. Or maybe we will hear you have another 6 months with no Doctors or Hospitals.. This is one of those Monumental Days that we have encountered since the Big One.... October 7, 2008. Its not that you always want to remember certain Days..it just happens that way..

I have had the roughest 6 months clear since the last Chemo session ever.. The toll on the Man going thru the actual process is much more spiritual.. relevant.. and tormented...Mine is a side show... freak show .. that is like watching a spinning top spin completely off the table... I reel myself in when Im needed.. I couldnt be a better Caretaker.. Im on top of everything and everybody... He never knows what a Doctor ,, Hospital.. or Insurance Company is throwing at us. His job is only to muster all the will he can to go thru an actual Living Hell for 6 months. But..make no mistake about it.. We are 3 years 1 month and 15 days into Stage 4 Colon Cancer with Lung Metastasis.

Today we will be given 3 options.. 1) Clear.. Go Home for 6 months.. live your life as you would before Cancer entered it. 2} The Cancer is back.. The 6th Surgery and the 3rd round of 6 months of Chemo since 2008 .. or 3) The Cancer is back and nothing can be done. So, 1:30 Today Eastern Time, one of those options will be given to us from the same guy who hit us hard on October 7, 2008. I wander if he realizes the Vast Power he holds the minute he walks into the room.. This happens every hour of every work day for him. For us, it one of those Monumental Days that we will never forget....

Bought this ugly table in an antique store along Route 66 in Arizona.. I LOVED it.. and I took off all the old Veneer that had been glued on to the shelves and top.. sanded it down and repainted it ..

This is how it turned out.. the pictures dont do it justice.. and the lighting made it look different in each one.. but the color is Aqua Ocean by Valspar.. and its a beautiful color.. then I took brown paint a little bit and added it to some glaze and rubbed that on to give it back its worn look.. but with a pretty color.

Guess thats it.... November is the Work Horse Month for me.. I stop plenty of times to be Thankful for all that I have.. There are Heartbreaking Sorrows but there is very much to be Thankful for everyday. I still dont know what happened.. I dont know why or what we did to make 2 people want to hurt us. I never understand why people think its their business to ruin others lives. People in Glass Houses shouldnt throw stones if ya know what I mean. I only want the best for My Daughter.. I strongly believe HOWEVER she feels.. she has to know her life as would ours would be so much better if we were together. Her Dad misses her.. but like he has said about a few others.. when this cancer comes back.. which it will.. she is not to be told .. if she doesnt want to be in his life while he is well, he does not want her in his life when he is sick.. I didnt have the heart to tell him... she doesnt want to be in your life at all...

After Halloween on Monday.. I will be going to a Weekly List for Christmas Prep .. Its 6 weeks away.. I have 2 Parties here at my House not counting Christmas Day Dinner itself. It was 3 Parties.. but I am planning to combine 2 of them.. That decision will be made this week.. Its the best thing to do.. for me, it doesnt matter.. Its the same amount of food and Prep.. I love throwing Parties.. but I think it would be a good chance for some good friends of mine to meet and bond some new relationships of their own..

I have been MIA ... lots going on... Mom and Dad are all moved in.. We gave them our Master Bedroom and Bath.. they are adjusting.. Its been wonderful for me.. she goes way beyond what she should.. cooking and cleaning while we are at work... We went to Pigeon Forge for Shades of the Past.. and she kept our sons Dog for us while he also traveled... I didnt even post items for Sept.. as it flew by with them here.. I wont be able to follow the Holiday Grand Plan.. but I will still be ready for Christmas and the other Holidays Im sure...

Mom and Dad will be moving in with me this week in transition to their new Patio Home.. I have this pic in my dressing room.. I was telling a very dear friend that looking at this I realized how at the time.. I just wanted to get down and play.. and now with all the grown up issues you deal with and all the work , good and bad of being a parent, a child , an employee, a spouse a friend you have no idea what is in store for every child later in life after being so protected and sitting on their parents laps.. .. Then it hit me.. nothing really changes.. all I want to do now is get down and play.... how funny..

Its been one of the worse and in some ways one of the best summers ever..... and it may be the worse fall ever.. I truly thought at one time that fall of 2008 would never be topped... but it has been.. the trouble is.. what is wrong will never be fixed.. trust is something someone has to earn and sometimes there isnt enough time to earn it.... very sad for those on the end of that stick.. one day when its too late for Mike and I, a dear loved one will learn a lesson and by the time that happens it will be too late for her to make amends to the people who loved her most... And she will hurt for the rest of her life with no way to be forgiven. I pray that she finds peace with the life she has chosen.. but peace will be hard to come by. My heart breaks for her every minute of everyday, but it also hardens where it has been broken and may never heal.. ever...

Just an update on Mike's health. All is going well, we finished the most recent round of Chemo Treatments in March. The next full torso scan will be in November. That is a big one as we are 1/2 way thru the 5 year Cancer Timeline. We need a clear scan in November. He has not rebounded as quickly from the last Chemo treatment. It does seem to be cumulative and taking a longer time to recover now between sessions. He has some new places and bumps on his arms and legs. We arent sure what those are but he refuses to get them checked out before his November visit. I think he is enjoying his NO Doctor, NO Hospital visit break and I cant blame him for that. He has had some of the worse mental and emotional struggles the past month than he has had EVER in the past 2.5 years of his Cancer fight. It took a toll on him. Right now for a few months, we have NO cancer to deal with that we know of and we plan to enjoy the rest of the summer and early fall. A clear scan in November will be his first time since October 2008 that he goes 1 year without a 6 month chemo session . A feat that has eluded him since this struggle began, but that we are hopeful for. The past 2.5 years has been hard on his body in so many ways. You wonder if the cure is what does the most harm to cancer patients. At what point in this process do they go from a patient to a Guinea Pig.

I have trouble with women who dont respect OTHER women... who try and knock them down when ever they feel threatened by either their intelligence, their capabilities , their career or their looks.. Some Women are other Womens worse critics. Men dont do that to each other. I have some wonderful women friends who I adore and I know they adore me.. Im not sure why there are some women who feel they have to knock one down to make themselves feel better. We are the smartest, most compassionate of the human race, working together we could change the world. Men will always lead this world as long as we feel threatened by each other and not work together.

WE went to Pigeon Forge again for Fourth of July.. A trip to the Christmas Place of course and my favorite winery... Saw a concert and a wonderful Fireworks show..

I want that complete before the Holidays.. New Counter Top, New Paint, Paint Kitchen Cabinets. Complete reorganization and purging.. Im so looking forward to it. Spend alot of time in my Kitchen and its needed this for a long time.

Happy 39th Wedding Anniversary my Dear Michael.. 2 1/2 years ago today was almost taken from us.. But right now you and I are both alive, healthy and able to Celebrate this monumental day.. June 17, 1972 at 2pm we became man and wife. We were so young.. 18 and 21. We have grown together in so many ways. We think and act as one. We have been blessed with a gorgeous, fun and some times crazy family. Who would have believed we would still be here today ? Maybe not even us at times.. but we are and we will be for many more years to come. How about it Big Guy ? Lets celebrate this again at 40 years next June 17th. A clear scan in October will be ours Im sure. I will post this pic again on our next anniversary.. and we will both be here to enjoy it.

BOY did I score on our last trip to Pigeon Forge... They were having a garage sale and these gigantic ornaments which I had always looked at but dare not buy were on sale BIG TIME... I put a water bottle in the middle of the pile so you can get an idea how large these ornaments are.. ALL of these were 17.00.... the Large Wrapped Candy ones were over 30.00 a piece when they were in the store the years before.. I am thrilled with this purchase.. Im going to do my Fireplace Mantle this Christmas in these Over the Top Ornaments.. Cant wait.

Home from our Route 66 Trip and I just cant seem to get back in the groove..

Mike had his scan and his LUNGS and LIVER are clean !... We have had this report before , so we know to temper our excitement this time.. but it is what it is and we are so VERY HAPPY AND EXCITED !

So much seems to be going on.. Weddings, Graduations, BIRTHDAYS GALORE.. May is such a busy month for our family just as Im sure it is for many of you.

I will Be Better at blogging this summer.. Lots of fun stuff coming up.

GET YOUR KICKS ON ROUTE 66 !

I Have been MIA.. We took 2 weeks and started our journey in St. Louis on Route 66 and drove to the end on the Santa Monica Pier.. We had a blast.. We stopped whenever we wanted.. we took side trips to Helicopter over the Grand Canyon, We went to Meteor City and spent a few days in Vegas where we saw the Beatles "Love" show and ate at Emerils Delmonico Steak House.. It was a wonderful trip. I will post more pictures later.. On the trip home we followed the same route.. but got off in other little towns to do some antiquing.. I got a few things.. a wicker table to restore, that I will post later, but also a few of my favorite finds, include this teapot since I collect Teapots and SEW.. how cute.. and this very unique saucer and cup wall plaque. I thought it was so original and would hang nicely next to my shelves and shelves of teapots..
We had a wonderful time.. this was a trip Mike had always wanted to take.. and take my word for this... DONT PUT THINGS OFF.. you may never get the chance..

Had a wonderful dinner out last night with my famiy.... They all looked so beautiful and I was very proud to be with them. I have some good kids and they are turning out to be wonderful caring adults. My son is at the far left.. My Son in Law next.. My Daughter and I and Mike on the far right.. I am very blessed.

I took a road trip today 3 1/2 hours northeast of me to meet one of my internet buddies.. We have become very fond of each other over the years and I just felt it was something I needed to do... We had the very best time.. I got to see her old house that use to be.. her current home.. and all her wonderful bears who keep her company.. her work .. which was also very nice and meet her coworkers.. We had a great lunch.. TONS of talk.. and I think we could have talked for days.. non stop... I went to give her an early Birthday present and in all the excitement found in here in my purse when I got home... Shows how excited I was... So.. Happy Birthday Pam next week.... Love ya. The pic was out at the car after lunch.. Im a little close holding the camera cause my arms arent real long and the sun has us both squinting.. but you can still see how happy we were to finally meet in person.

OH MY GOSH !!!!!!!! I have the very best.. most wonderful friends... in the world... When I got home today, there was a LARGE box sitting on the porch.. I carried it in , but it was addressed to Mike and Becky.. So.. I waited for Mike to get home and inside this box was the most AMAZING ... FUN.... WONDERFUL things from women I have NEVER MET.. Yes.. You read that right.. Here in this wonderful cyber world.. for some of the harm it can do... Some of us experience the MOST WONDERFUL things... I have made some very .. special friends on the internet.. I have come to love them just as if they were standing here where I could touch and see them.. I am in awe of the friendship we have built and the love that stretches across, states, countries and continents. This package was for Mike and I to celebrate his Final Chemo Session.. And Celebrate we will.. We will celebrate how very lucky we are to know so many good and caring people in the world.. Thanks Annie so much for pulling this together.. And to all of you who have SO MUCH going on in your own lives to stop and think of a little old couple in Kentucky means more than you will ever know in this life time.Annie. Mike's nurse left a few hours ago and UNHOOKED his Chemo treatment for THE LAST TIME.... That is what I say now and hope holds true.. She left......and then we hugged for what seemed like hours... a few tears and now we move on with our lives.. They have been in limbo for 2.5 years and who knows.. may be again sometime in the future.. but today it is over... ..... Thanks to all my friends and family who are there for us everyday.. we will continue to need you.. so please dont leave.... Hugs and Kisses to every person who listens to me talk and talk and talk... Cry and Cry and Cry... Its been a journey and it will continue to be ... but right now there is peace and calm and for that we are forever greatful... Each day is a gift... I hope you look at those you love and realize that.. they are a gift and each day you spend with them is a day you are blessed.

Hope to post some pics soon of the transformation of our Guest Room for our Granddaughters new room for when she spends time with us.. Its turning out very cute and not too pink..
I have very little time to work on things and my March list is not moving very well.. I fell last night down some stairs and I was carrying a LARGE wood Start to paint.. I landed on it and it poked a very small hole in my chest with one of the points.. I know for a fact I was more scared than hurt..so many freak accidents out there and I could see that thing going right into my chest wall. Mike having Chemo this past weekend..... slept thru the entire thing.. I even called out to him a couple times.. so that is even the most scary part.. that no one would have known if I had bleed to death laying there.. How scary is that.. makes me really understand how dangerous it is for those living alone.. Im going to make a pledge to check on elderly and people who live alone more.. If all of us would do that, we may save some one from a dangerous situation.. Just something to add to the million things we all do, but looking out for each other will give you a sense of peace that many other things we do wont.

I have been really bad about blogging this month.. I plan to do better.. I have some pics of our recent trip to Pigeon Forge to post and my March TO DO List.. later this week.

Mike has 3 more Chemo sessions left... We did get an all clear from the scan a few weeks ago.. so getting him to finish these last 3 may not be an easy feat.. I hope he gets in at least 2 more...

We are planning a wonderful trip for the next couple of months.. Route 66 to Vegas and then back on a different part of Route 66.. we hope to travel all of it in the 2 or more weeks we are taking.. Its going to be a really good Road Trip.. Mike and I have always loved just riding.. We travel well together.. We've been doing it since our late teen years when we would take our road trips to Florida.. We always said we wanted to drive to California.. looks like we take most of that trip this year.. We have drove the Blue Ridge Parkway end to end.. and as beautiful as that was.. it will be Nothing compared to this journey and all the sites we plan to see... I cant wait.. I havent been this excited about a trip in a very long time...

Time to Post my February Goals and Projects

Please be aware .... As I had to explain this to my family... ... These are the items that I MUST complete .. the little rocks as I would say.. Everyone has a large Jar to fill each day.. first our Big Rocks go in.. our Family.. Children, Grandchildren, Our Work. Our Day to Day like Breathing Rocks...... then there are the Little Rocks that can strip us of having the room for our Big Rocks if we fill our day with them... The Little Rocks are still Very Important and they must fit INTO the schedule.. But, they can be forgotten.. and then there are the Crap Rocks.. I call them.. they are not in my Breathing Big Rocks.. they are not even in these listed Little Rocks of things I need to do.. they are the Crap Rocks that just shove their way into your day and can screw up an entire month... like a broken car.. a customer who drives you crazy all day... an illness that pops up.. as you can see the Crap Rocks are just what they are.. but they are life and they happen.,., So.. always .. always know and Tender your Big Rocks like Breathing.. Make note of your Little but important Rocks and dodge the Crap Rocks that can fill up the jar before you get all the good ones in each day..
So.. these are my " Hope and Need to fit into my Month Little Rocks"

Mike is better this weekend than last, but this is taking a toll on ALL of us.. my kids, my granddaughter, me and of course Mike.. . it affects all of us.. Both kids called today and my Granddaughter to see how he was and if we needed anything.. How lucky we are..

VALENTINES DAY is coming soon.. I am working on a few things.. Cards for my MHH Group Swap and also some treats for my Granddaughters..
Rough weekend for Mike.. Probably his worse in 2 years of Chemo. But better last night and everyday he will get stronger.,,,, till they hit him again. He is my focus right now. I learn everyday more about what is truly in others hearts. My hope is that everyone could experience what Mike and I have WITHOUT the Cancer. We have had some long talks this weekend about what is really important. Kindness, Compassion, Insight and just Simple Days and Life with no Drama. Age and Maturity have some things going for it... Being able to see how little time we all do have and how we should honor those who love us and respect our place in their lives. Friends who expect Nothing from us but who understand what our places are in each of their lives while we deal with this situation of life and death.. We have had MANY years .. MANY years of raising children.. We did the best we could and we know they had a GREAT childhood.. Trips, cars, friends, freedom, money and family. We both worked VERY hard to provide a life for our family that many kids never have. We worked many hours and our marriage was put on hold for a really long time.. We led pretty separate lives the kind that lead most to not survive a marriage. But.. we did. And with all the damage that 2 people can do to each other, we come to this time in our lives when we realize we are 2 of the luckiest people to have come out the other end. There have been many who dont.. and there will be many that wont.. We were meant to be together to go thru this together.. Without me... lets just say... without me.. Mike would not be here today.. And without him.. I would not be now the complete, thankful, happy person that I am. The world can continue its assult on each other, Drama can rule supreme in some households, but we will be here till the cows come home, to love, nurture and take care of those who allow us to.
